Things to Keep in Mind for Jamaican Weddings

If you are planning a wedding at an outdoor venue, make alternative arrangements in case of stormy conditions. Typical weather conditions for that time of year should be considered when choosing your wedding attire. If you plan to marry on the beach in the middle of a hot afternoon, plan accordingly. While you are planning your wedding, take the time to learn about local wedding customs and traditions. You may find that incorporating local dishes like ackee and codfish into your reception is a fun way to honor the island on your wedding day. Another simple way to do this is by using the national flower of Jamaica in your bouquet or boutonnière. Jamaica’s national flower is the lignum vitae, a dainty, blue (almost purple) bloom.

The key is to begin your planning process as quickly as possible. A good system of time management should be developed because it allows you to save time when researching choices, making reservations, and coping with any complications that may arise. This also gives you the opportunity to close any deals that may become booked afterwards.

Another thing that you must keep in mind is the budget. Planning ahead can save you a lot of time and money. Numerous major resorts and hotels have wedding planning services that can prepare your big event down to the very last detail, and charge a single set fee for the entire package. Look for ways in which you can save money but do not sacrifice on quality and your dreams. Look for local vendors as they can be cheaper. Everything that is cheap is not necessarily bad.

The sky-high ceremony includes photographs, witnesses and a once in a lifetime experience.

The perception that Jamaica is dangerous is overblown, but to abate fears most of the large Jamaican resorts have tight security and are nestled behind iron gates. The third largest island in the Caribbean, Jamaica offers much more than just sparkling beaches and turquoise water.
